From the artist: "I started this sculpture at the 2007 National Specialty at Purina Farms, with the idea of trying to depict the archetypical Australian Shepherd. As I formed the basic shapes I was able to get the guidance of some of our most respected breeders and to observe first-hand some of the best the breed has to offer while working the clay. The result, completed at my home studio, is cast in bronze, using the classic lost-wax method of casting metal sculpture, and is finished with a classic bronze patina."
